Celebrating 26 Years of Impact: Hispanic League’s 2025 Scholarship Awards Ceremony

Hispanic League proudly hosted its 26th Annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony on Saturday, June 14, 2025. This event was a heartwarming and inspiring luncheon that celebrated the academic accomplishments of our 2025 scholarship recipients. Held with the enthusiastic support of our sponsors, donors, and community, this year’s event honored 37 incredible students who were awarded scholarships to continue their pursuit of higher education.

These scholarships are not just financial aid—they are symbols of belief in the potential, determination, and dreams of Hispanic/Latino students in our region. With the support of community partners, we continue to advance our mission of improving the quality of life for Hispanic/Latino individuals through education, community inclusion, health, and multicultural understanding.

This year’s ceremony featured a powerful and moving welcome from Executive Director Diane Massas, who shared:

"On behalf of the Hispanic League Board of Directors and Staff, it is an honor to welcome you to our 26th Scholarship Awards Ceremony Luncheon. This is one of the most meaningful days of the year for our organization—because today, we are celebrating our mission in action. Over the past 25 years, the Hispanic League has proudly awarded 696 scholarships—totaling $1,772,000—to support Hispanic/Latino students in pursuing their college education. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our sponsors and community partners, today we are honored to present 37 new scholarships to deserving students...

To the families, mentors, and educators who have supported these students: Thank you. Behind every scholar is a network of love, encouragement, and sacrifice. We honor you today as well.

To our sponsors and donors: Thank you for believing in these students—and for investing in their potential. Your generosity is planting seeds that will grow into future leaders, professionals, and changemakers in our community.

To our students: You are the reason we are here. Your success is our success. Your dreams matter. And your voice matters... ¡Felicidades y que sigan los éxitos!"

This celebration marked a shift from previous years, evolving from the traditional Spanish Nite Gala into a daytime Scholarship Awards Ceremony Luncheon—a change that emphasized accessibility and focused attention on our scholars and their inspiring journeys.

Each scholar honored during the ceremony brings a powerful story of perseverance, cultural pride, and academic excellence. Many are first-generation college students who have overcome significant challenges to reach this milestone. Together, they represent the future of our communities—and the impact of collective support.

The event also included highlights from this year’s award recipients, a special message from keynote speaker Arizbeth Barrientos, recognition to Food Lion for earning the Scholarship Quince Años Award, and the invaluable contributions of our volunteers and committees. We extend heartfelt thanks to the Education Committee and Events Committee for their dedication, coordination, and passion in making this event possible.

As we celebrate these scholars, we are reminded of our responsibility to continue opening doors and building pathways for success. When we support education, we uplift generations. The Hispanic League remains committed to empowering Latino youth through every scholarship awarded, every story shared, and every life changed.

Thank you to our sponsors, donors, families, and community members for making this celebration—and the dreams of 37 scholars—a reality. A special Thank you to Modern Nissan for being the Naming Sponsor for this amazing event. Let us move forward together with hope, unity, and a shared commitment to opportunity for all.
