Beating Hearts Zumbathon®
Join us each February in Winston-Salem for Beating Hearts Zumbathon® — a lively, family-friendly charity event celebrating heart health and community. Presented by Hispanic League, this energetic night of Zumba brings together participants of all ages and fitness levels for nonstop music, movement, and fun. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or trying Zumba for the first time, you’ll enjoy dynamic instructors, a welcoming atmosphere, and the chance to support local programs. All proceeds help fund our education, cultural, and community programs that improve the quality of life for Hispanic and Latino families across our region. Move with purpose, dance for health, and be part of a community that cares!

Why is heart health an area of concern for our Latino/Hispanic Community?
Heart disease remains a leading cause of death for Hispanic-Americans.
The CDC reports that heart disease is the leading cause of death for Hispanic men and the second leading cause of death for Hispanic women (after cancer) in the United States. (CDC)
More than half of Hispanic men have cardiovascular disease.
According to the American Heart Association, 53.2% of U.S. Hispanic men and 38.6% of U.S. Hispanic women aged 20 and older had some form of cardiovascular disease between 2021 and 2023. (www.heart.org)
Stroke affects thousands of Latinos every year.
The American Heart Association reports that 3.5% of Hispanic men and 3.8% of Hispanic women age 20 and older have had a stroke. In 2023, stroke caused the deaths of 6,564 Hispanic men and 7,514 Hispanic women in the U.S. (www.heart.org)
