Job Position: Administrative Assistant

Brief Description:

The Administrative Assistant is an energetic person with a combination set of skills to handle community event organization and general administration. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who can oversee the detailed data collection, administrative, and special event management work. It is preferred that the candidate is fluent in Spanish and English, and has experience working with the Hispanic population.

Tasks involve: office and administrative needs; organization of events; manage contacts/sponsors with businesses and organizations for memberships and any additional support needed on behalf of the Hispanic League.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists executive director in coordinating all administrative functions.

Overview of Employment: 

As a part of LaComunidad, we plan to utilize lay personnel, known as Latino Health Advisors (LHAs) to implement the behavioral lifestyle intervention.

Qualifications of LHAs:

  • A desire to help community members who are at risk for developing diabetes by leading them through a weight-loss and lifestyle change program.
  • History of diabetes, pre-diabetes, or metabolic syndrome.
  • Good control of their health through regular physical and good nutrition practices.
  • Leadership ability.
  • The ability to devote 10 hours per week to the program.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete 4-6 weeks of training to learn the skills necessary to learn the skills necessary to be a group leader.
  • Complete continuing training on a monthly basis to maintain leadership skills.
  • Hold weekly meetings with group of 8-12 participants during evening/weekend hours.
  • Maintain a relationship with group members, including calling members if they miss groups and making sure hey catch up on missed information.
  • Maintain contact with study staff to report on group and individual progress and make them aware of problems within the group.
  • Assist in the recruitment of participants in community settings and provide translation services at recruitment events as needed.

Payment of LHAs: 

  • Each LHA will be compensated $100 per week during the intensive phase of the intervention (weekly group meetings) and $100 per month during the maintenance phase (every other month group meetings).
  • LHAs will be paid directly by the institution and will be required to submit a W-9.
  • No payments for LHA work will be made to a third party group.

Position: Spanish Bilingual Health Insurance Marketplace-Exchange Navigator Posted 8/31/16

General Summary: Navigator will help eligible individuals in Forsyth County enroll in Qualified Health Plans (QHP) through the federally facilitated Health Insurance Marketplace (Healthcare.gov), apply for Medicaid, or apply for exemptions from the ACA’s requirement to have health coverage. Navigators will also participate in outreach and education programs with community partners, conduct education programs, and supervise and support volunteer navigators. Position: Afterschool Program Coordinator

Purpose of the Position: Manage the non-curriculum components of the afterschool and summer enrichment experiences for students, providing structure and leadership support for the elementary and secondary school academic tutoring programs in collaboration with tutoring staff. 3. Middle school mentoring tutoring
   a. Work with Volunteer Coordinator to recruit 1-3 middle school tutors for afterschool programs and provide                  supervision for their work.
   b. Provide leadership mentoring for Middle and High school youth under the terms of Hispanics in Philanthropy              grant for leadership and mentoring
4. Information technology, communications, and social media
   a. Supervise and educate staff and program participants on effective use of technology for academic success and       personal safety.
   b. Manage web-based communication to insure support of organizational objectives and mission.
   c. Insure that all computers, software, and electronics are kept in working order and up to date.

Qualifications
1. Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish, English
2. Experience managing a staff of professionals
3. Experience and familiarity with work in an educational setting

Relationships
1. Works under the supervision of Executive Director
2. Supervises Afterschool Program Coordinator, Youth Tutoring Supervisors, Youth Mentor, Volunteer Coordinator, and Administrative Assistant.

28 hours per week: 11:00-6:00, Monday-Thursday.

HealthCare Access (HCA) is a charity care program for the medically uninsured in Winston­Salem, NC. We are a community of medical providers, facilitators, and patients. We strive to bring together the two communities of medical practitioners and the uninsured to create a sustainable, affordable avenue to healthcare for those who need it. Our name is what we do – create access to healthcare for the uninsured in Forsyth, Stokes, Davie, Davidson, and Yadkin counties. Through the charity care program and through assistance with the Affordable Care Act, HCA strives to promote equal access to health care throughout our service counties.

The Navigator and Program Coordinator position at HealthCare Access is the agent of connection between those patients and physicians and must therefore be able to establish good patient rapport. As Navigator, however, they are also responsible for educating, assisting, and empowering consumers regarding the Affordable Care Act and the Health Insurance Marketplace. As part of a small team that accomplishes many varied goals, the ideal candidate is collaborative, detail oriented, and shows initiative and sound judgment.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Provide assistance with the application, enrollment, education, and appeals related to the Affordable Care Act and the Health Insurance Marketplace. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Spanish, in order to best need HCA client’s needs. He or she must also be able to explain complicated policy and insurance information in simple and concise ways to consumers.

● Perform outreach and education about the Affordable Care Act, especially to underserved communities and will assist with community collaboration, and event preparation.

● Conduct patient screenings and recertifications, managing necessary administrative processes for their enrollment.

● Coordinate care for patients; this can include patient scheduling, data entry, and handling patient referrals.

OTHER DUTIES:

● Prepare and submit reports, proposals, action plans, program goals and objectives as requested, along with other duties as directed by the Executive Director.

● Educate patients about other programs and services available to them as appropriate (medication assistance, behavioral health, etc.) QUALIFICATIONS:

● Proficient in Spanish language; able to read, write, and speak proficiently.

● Minimum degree required: Associate’s Degree

● Three years experience in a community based setting

● Excellent written and verbal communication, along with strong organizational skills, and skill in establishing patient rapport.

● Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office.
